## Use cases

### Accounting Integration Development (Finance)

Developers build create requests, such as Customer-Create-Request and Payment-Create-Request, and pin a minor version to keep the schema stable for their app.

### Chart of Accounts Mapping (Finance)

Finance teams map their account types (asset, liability, income, expense, equity) when they set up accounts with Account-Create-Request.

### Agent Grounding (Finance)

AI agents look up exact field names, such as the SalesItemLineDetail and TxnTaxDetail parts of an Invoice, instead of guessing them when they write code or queries.

### Accounting Analytics Modeling (Finance)

Data engineers check shapes such as Invoice and SalesReceipt before they build dbt models for financial statements and aging reports. The Fivetran package fivetran/dbt_quickbooks covers these reports.

## Description

## Overview
The QuickBooks Online Accounting API gives apps access to the accounting data of a QuickBooks Online company. The types in this entry include Invoice, SalesReceipt and Vendor. They also include create, update and delete request shapes, such as Customer-Create-Request, Bill-Create-Request and JournalEntry-Create-Request. Line types such as SalesItemLineDetail and TxnTaxDetail hold the item and tax parts of a sale. Intuit changes the schema in small steps called minor versions; a request with no minor version gets minor version 75. Developers and data engineers can use this entry to check type and field names before they write integration code, queries or dbt models.

## Top entities
Invoice, SalesReceipt, Vendor, Customer-Create-Request, Account-Create-Request, Item-Create-Request, Bill-Create-Request, Payment-Create-Request, JournalEntry-Create-Request, Estimate-Create-Request, SalesItemLineDetail, TxnTaxDetail

## Mappings
- Fivetran dbt package fivetran/dbt_quickbooks: partial. Models cover the general ledger, financial statements and aging, not every type.
- schema.org Invoice: conceptual. Invoice aligns in intent with schema.org Invoice, not field by field.

## For agents
Query the library's CoreModels project for QuickBooks type shapes before generating code, queries or SQL. Pin the same minor version in real API calls. Sample prompt: "Using the QuickBooks Online API schema in the Schematica Library, which fields of an Invoice hold the line details and the tax details?"
